The Speech of Strokes

By Ung Vai Meng

Event Date: 27th September — 18th October, 2008

“Strokes are possibly the most instinctive forms of visual expression by human beings. Strokes laid on a surface during the elapse of time become an instantaneous monologue of the artist. In the nature of art, strokes are neither figural nor abstract – they all come from a sensitive and artistic spirit.”

Guilherme Ung Vai Meng was born in Macau where he studied drawing and watercolours with master Kam Cheong Leng. In 2002, he completed a master degree course at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in Theory of Tradition Chinese Paintings.
