Students from USJ show their best-selected works at Creative Macau
“SELECTED WORKS 2022” is the title of the exhibition open to the public at the Creative Macau, from November 11 to December 10, 2022.
Artworks from the University of Saint Joseph’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities-Department of Creative Industries graduated students, are exhibited as part of the “SELECTED WORKS 2022” exhibition, aiming to showcase the best capstone projects from the Bachelors of Architectural Studies, Communication and Media, and Design from the academic year 2021-2022.
This year, USJ architecture graduation projects further explore the new Macao Masterplan and its standards, focusing on the future development of the Outer Harbour Zone 1. Under the overall theme “GAP”, students explored the design opportunities generated by existing voids of this area. The “SHIFT” from a human-centred to a sustainability-centred approach aims at using design as a thinking and operational tool to better address the systemic challenges of our planet and our times. In the Design graduation projects, students were asked to design for impact. Alongside their target users’ requirements, they had to address key matters of social relevance, economic sustainability, ecological balance, and cultural contextualisation. Whereas Communication and Media students created “UNUSUAL”, yet interesting, works. They are distinctive with a more artistic presence. Several individual projects show their unique and original perspectives of Macao, exploring innovative techniques that integrate photography, videography, sound, and art installations. These documental photographs from old Macao to minorities and communities, and visual impacted animated images have shown the full potential of our students.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites all interested parties and individuals in visiting the exhibition held at Creative Macau, G/F Macau Cultural Centre Building, until December 10, and to attend the Opening Ceremony on November 11 at 6:00pm.
